Chaye and cappuccino in Kharian at Jerry's

Not every visit to a fast food place is about burgers. Sometimes you just want a hot cup of something while you take a break from shopping, wait for a friend, or wind down after a long day. At Jerry's in Kharian we serve two hot drinks: cardamom chaye (sugar free) and cappuccino. This post is a short guide to both, and to when a hot drink makes more sense than a cold one.

Cardamom chaye, the sugar-free way

Chaye is part of daily life in Pakistan. Most families have their own idea of the perfect cup, and cardamom (elaichi) is one of the most loved additions. It gives tea a warm, fragrant, slightly sweet aroma that many people associate with home and with guests being welcomed.

Our cardamom chaye is sugar free. That is worth knowing for a few reasons:

• If you are watching your sugar, you can enjoy a cup without worrying about how much has been added.
• If you usually take sugar, it is worth knowing before you order, so you are not surprised by the first sip.
• If you are pairing it with food, an unsweetened chaye goes very well with savoury items like fries, nuggets or a sandwich.

We will not describe a recipe, but you can expect the fragrance of cardamom in every cup.

When chaye works best

• Afternoons when we open at 1 pm and you want something warm with a light snack.
• Cooler evenings, especially in the winter months in Kharian.
• After a heavy meal, when a cold, sweet shake feels like too much.

Cappuccino for coffee lovers

Coffee culture has grown a lot across Pakistan, and plenty of people now reach for a coffee as often as a chaye. A cappuccino, in general, is an espresso-based coffee with steamed milk and a layer of milk foam on top. It is creamy but still has a coffee kick.

Our cappuccino is there for anyone who wants that coffee taste while shopping or catching up with a friend. It is a good pick if you need a bit of energy for an evening out, or if tea is simply not your thing.

Chaye or cappuccino?

A quick way to choose:

• Want something familiar and comforting? Cardamom chaye.
• Avoiding sugar? Our chaye is sugar free.
• Want a coffee lift? Cappuccino.
• Ordering for a group? Get a mix. Tea people and coffee people rarely agree, and that is fine.

What to eat with a hot drink

Hot drinks pair well with lighter items from our menu:

A hot drink during a Mall of Kharian visit

Jerry's is inside Mall of Kharian on the GT Road. The mall also has clothing and kids' stores such as Edenrobe, Limelight, Shahposh and Minnie Minors, so a chaye or cappuccino can be a nice pause in the middle of a shopping trip.
