At Jerry's in Kharian we serve two: the club sandwich and the panini sandwich. They sound similar, but they are quite different. Here is how to choose between them.

What is a club sandwich?

The club sandwich is a classic that has been around for well over a century. In general, a club sandwich is a stacked sandwich, usually made with toasted bread in layers, cut into triangles and often held together with toothpicks. Fillings vary a lot from place to place, but chicken is common in Pakistan, and the layered, stacked look is what makes a club sandwich instantly recognisable.

What you notice most when you order one is the shape: neat triangles with visible layers. It feels like a proper café-style sandwich, and the triangles make it easy to share.

What is a panini sandwich?

Panini comes from Italy. The word broadly refers to a sandwich made with bread that is pressed and grilled, which gives it a flatter shape, a warm inside and grill marks on the outside. Around the world, "panini" is used for many pressed sandwiches with all sorts of fillings.

A panini tends to feel warmer and more compact than a club sandwich, with a toasty, pressed outside.
