Sarai Alamgir sits on the eastern bank of the Jhelum River, directly across from Jhelum city, and it is the closest town to Kharian on the GT Road heading north. That makes Kharian an easy evening out.
Getting to Kharian from Sarai Alamgir
Follow the GT Road (N-5) south-east from Sarai Alamgir towards Kharian. It is a short run, usually somewhere around 20 to 30 minutes depending on traffic. Jerry's is inside Mall of Kharian, right on the GT Road in Kharian.
A bit of history on the way
The town takes its name from a sarai built in the time of the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb (Alamgir): a resting place with a well and a prayer area for travellers on the old trunk road. Sarai Alamgir is also home to Military College Jhelum, founded in 1922. Centuries later, people are still stopping along this road for something to eat. We just do it with zinger burgers and lavashak.
